Finished a cot blanket for my youngest granddaughter, Chloe, last night. Below are two photos which I took just as I was running out the door to work this morning. Not very clear as I have trouble trying to work out how to take flash photos with my very expensive digital camera. Will keep the blanket as part of her Xmas presents this year. Now to finish of teddy to go with it. Teddy is being knit in a similar colour and will have the same satin ribbon tied around it's neck. I have finished the torso, head and arms but had put it aside to get the blanket done. It wasn't easy getting the satin ribbon to be equal on both sides and in some places it seems to be skinnier than others but that's part of the uniqueness of a home-ccrafted item, isn't it?

Hmmmm, don't know what happened there as I downloaded a few pics in one album but it doesn't seem to have brought them all over.

Anyway, this is my granddaughter Ruby after visiting the Royal Melbourne Show in Melbourne last Saturday.

    Update
Have decided to at long last post something in this journal. Spend more time looking at other peeps' journals. Need to get more inspired.

Going to try posting a couple of pics of my granddaughters, Ruby (2-1/2) and Chloe (6 mths). Let's see how I go.

Have a couple of current knitting projects on the go too. Have finished knitting a cot blanket for Chloe in a beautiful dark mauve colour and am currently sewing on a satin ribbon edging. It's a bit tricky doing this as not only is the satin ribbon slippery but I also have to try and make sure both sides match as close as possible. Plan on finishing it and giving it to her as part of her 2006 Xmas present. I gave my daughter, Caroline, a little cardigan which I had knitted for Chloe months ago. It will barely fit her - if at all. Stupid cow that I am, all I had to do was thread a ribbon through the "waist" and sew on a pink button at the top but it spent months languishing at the bottom of my knitting bag. I forgot to put the button on anyway.

I am also knitting a teddy to go with the blanket. Have finished the torso and the face. Now just have to do arms and legs then sew on some velvet for the inner part of the ears and tie a bow with matching satin ribbon so that it goes with the blanket.

In between doing this, I finally gave up the task of looking for scatter cushions to go with my Moran charcoal grey couch. I mean I did find some nice cushions at King's Furniture (http://www.kingfurniture.com.au/contemporary/columbus.html) here in South Melbourne but did I want to pay $600 per cushion??? Me thinks not. Then I happened upon a girl knitting in a clothes shop one day and when we got to chatting about knitting in general I discovered that she was knitting cushion covers and I thought well maybe that's the only way I am going to get something close to the colours I want and at a relatively inexpensive cost (well compared to the cost of one cushion purchased retail anyway).

Just rang my daughter to try and find out how to hide the full web URL but couldn't understand the instructions. Need to look into this more. Maybe I didn't explain myself properly.

Off to visit create an album and then try to post pics to here.

    My Knitting

This is my first attempt at posting a picture.  This is a mohair wrap which I finished a couple of months ago.  It's able to be worn in a couple of ways and once I can master the album loading, I will post what hopefully is a clearer picture of it.  It is really warm despite it's lacy pattern and I must try and wear it more often.

I was into knitting wraps for a few months there and have another one which is black/metallic silver and a sort of feather and fan pattern.  I only remembered to grab my camera and took a quick couple of shots before I left home this morning and couldn't be bothered digging around in my drawers to pull out the black wrap (which is actually more like a shrug come to think of it).

    Long overdue update
Well I have decided today that I should at least have a proper go at making this journal something worth reading. Didn't realise that my last post was so long ago (yikes!!! six months ago in fact).

I have been trolling around a few other blogs recently and figure I should at least spend a bit of time on this to see if it can generate some "pals" to correspond with.

Not sure what I will write about from day to day. Just have to play it by ear.

Maybe I will start it off by posting a few pics of things I have recently knitted. I belong to the Stitch'N'Bitch group here in Melbourne so I can always refer them to my journal to see pics of what I have made. I just don't want to be open to ridicule though if someone happens to think what I have made is hideous. Hmmm, must check that my batteries are charged on my digital camera when I get home tonite.

I should also do a more thorough search for people with similar interests to me. I did that a few months ago but got sidetracked.

    More soon...........

    My holiday
Just got back from a 5 weeks overseas trip. Visited Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Arizona (Lake Havasu), New York and London. Phew!!!

Worn out from all the walking yet I still managed to put on nearly 2 kilos! Shock - horror.

Highlights of the trip were (in no particular order):

Visiting the Grand Canyon - words cannot describe how awesome this is
Catching up with friends in Los Angeles whom I hadn't seen in 13 years
New York - every single thing about it is amazing and I want to live there
    London - architecture, architecture, architecture.
Lighting a candle in memory of my sister in Westminster Abbey
Shopping - everywhere but in particular New York where I did serious damage to my travelling budget and had to call upon my daughter (thank you Caroline) to top up my funds
Krispy Kreme donuts - mmmmm, donuts yummy
Breakfast at IHOP - especially the hashbrowns
The night tour of Manhattan and Brooklyn (what a skyline!)

Lowlights of the trip were (also in no particular order):

American Airlines in general (will never, ever, ever fly via them again)
Almost being booked for jaywalking at Los Angeles airport and being berated by a huge LA cop (he ran out of tickets in his book so I got off - ha, ha!)
How expensive London was - $120Aus for a taxi from the airport to Earls Court!!!
    26 hour flight home
My heavy luggage - why did I pack so much in the first place? Spent numerous hours repacking and stressing over whether to abandon some items in an attempt to get weight down. That was even after I mailed four boxes of items back home to avoid having to carry those items around.
Not being able to get a decent cup of hot tea anywhere in the States.
Coffee in the States - disgusting nutmeg and cinnamon in everything which didn't help to disguise the foul taste of the coffee

    First entry
Well I think this is probably my first entry. Have tried posting before but always got messages saying site was unavailable due to updating, etc.

Looking forward to continuing on with the journal and finding new friends along the way.
